Printer

There is a Xerox Phaser 7750DN where you can print A4 and A3 in color. You need a pool-room account including as well as a printing balance with at lease 2,50 €, which can be recharged at the pool-room tutors.

Paper allocation

  • Panel 5: A4 80g paper
  • Panel 4: A4 80g paper
  • Panel 3: A3 100g paper
  • Panel 2: A4 100g paper
  • Panel 1: manual delivery

80g of paper costs less than 100g paper, so please pay attention to which panel you choose.

Printing from your room (Windows)

  • Click on "Start", than "Control Panel" and then on "Printers". Start the assistant by clicking on "New Printer"
  • In the appearing dialog choose "network printer". Then click on "Next"
  • As printername enter "\\nce5\phaser". Then click on "Next"
  • As username and password use your poolraum acount data.

Printing from your room (Linux)

The simplest way is with "foomatic-gui"

[Enter connection manually] "smb://Username:Password@nce5.hadiko.de/phaser"

The "Adobe PPD File:" can be downloaded from the Xerox Homepage

If you entered the ppd-file you should not choose the printer. Configuration is simplest with the CupsWebinterface. There you should set the following settings:

  • "Separation Page Source:" = "Tray 5" (for normal paper)
  • "Medien-Größe:" = "A4"
  • "Medien-Quelle:" = "Tray 5" (for normal paper)
  • "Feature Set:" = "DN"
  • "Optional Lower Trays:" = (X) Installed

Printing from your room (Linux without foomatic-gui)

Install Cups for example with:

"ln -s `which smbspool` /usr/libexec/cups/backend/smb" (Gentoo)

or

"ln -s `which smbspool` /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb" (Ubuntu)
